Andrew is a career international banker with 35 years’ experience in wealth management including portfolio investment management, trusts and estates.
In his most recent position as Director of a Single Family Office in the DIFC, he oversaw the accounts, record keeping and trusteeship of hundreds of millions of dollars in assets.
Prior to that he served as the Vice President of EFG Bank and the Director of Fiduciary Services of Deutsche Bank covering the Middle East and Africa region.
Between 1999 and 2005 he was the Managing director and regional head of the Royal Bank of Canada located in Dubai, where he led the banks business to profitability by restructuring its affluent clients business to focus on new assets under management, reducing costs and building a strong corporate and institutional business. During his tenure, he oversaw three strategic alliances with regional banks; was awarded Best Trust Services Provider by Euromoney Magazine and founded the Arabian chapter of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.
Andrew has a bachelor of arts in economics from York University in Toronto. He completed his Canadian Securities Course in 1985 and is registered with the Ontario Securities Commission to provide advice on investments. He is a former Chairman of the Canadian Business Council in Dubai and Northern Emirates.
Zaid has transitioned from operating consumer discretionary businesses to investing in capital markets. He learned that in investing, you could never hide from your results earlier when he was participating in stock market competitions during university.
Zaid has advised investment for his family alongside other GCC families, through private banks internationally and the DIFC offshore banking platform. Advising family members informally on portfolio construction, asset mix, and specific asset categories have resulted in positive relative returns.
Over the years, Zaid has worked with international financial institutions to provide financial modeling, financial analysis, risk-tolerance assessments, and retirement illustrations to high net worth clients for strategies today through retirement.
Zaid holds an Undergraduate degree from Saint Mary’s University, Halifax Nova Scotia, and Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Finance from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Zaki Ali is the Owner for Zaki Design Group (GCC), which operates brands such as ‘Custom Shop (New York) LLC, ‘Style Concepts LLC’ ‘Ascots & Chapel’s (Global) L.L.C.’, ‘Zaks (GCC) LLC’ & ‘City Garment Manufacturing’ etc. Zaki is the Founder of ‘Zaks GCC’, ‘Custom Shop’ New York and ‘Style Concepts LLC’.
Zaki has overseen the marketing, sourcing-cycle, physical expansion, and long-term strategy of ‘Ascots & Chapels ‘in the region. He has Conduct regional expansion across India and China by collaborating with major distribution centers. Increasing the brand presence in the GCC, by opening over 13 stores in the region. He has negotiated partnerships with international fashion houses and major department stores with presence in over twenty different countries in order to expand product development and brand distribution.
He founded the first men’s wear tailoring concept with 3D-enhanced measuring technology (Custom Shop ‘New York’) that allows the client to take full control of the design process in the GCC. Conceptualized the brand and oversaw regional expansion to eleven stores, with plans to open new stores over the next cycle. He designed outsourcing model and complete turnkey solution that works with software in conjunction with external providers, eliminating traditional production and warehousing, and significantly reducing backend costs. Also was involved in establishing initial marketing strategy and developed partnership strategy with influential brand ambassadors.
Zaki holds a degree from the ‘Fashion Institute of Technology’, State University of New York (Cum Laude) - (1995-1997).
